The Federal High Court in Damaturu, Yobe State Capital, has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to accept and publish the name of Bashir Sheriff Machina as the All Progressives Congress candidate, for the Yobe North senatorial district in 2023, upholding the party’s primary election on May 28.
Following the prayers of Machina, requesting the court to declare him as the APC’s genuine senatorial flagbearer for the 2023 election, against his counterpart Senate President Ahmed Lawan, who ran for the APC presidential primary but lost to former Lagos State governor Bola Tinubu, and has been presenting himself as the Zone’s senatorial candidate, which prompted the Court case, the presiding judge, Justice Fadima Aminu, on Wednesday, September 28, gave the ruling in his favour.
