The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially confirmed the resignation of its National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, with immediate effect.
In a statement released by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, Ganduje stepped down to attend to urgent and important personal matters. His resignation letter was submitted to the National Working Committee (NWC) through the party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru.
In the letter, Ganduje expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve the party at the highest level. President Tinubu has directed the Deputy National Chairman (North), Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, to assume the role of Acting National Chairman, pending the emergency meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to formally fill the leadership vacancy.
Ganduje became APC National Chairman in August 2023, following the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu. During his tenure, Morka said Ganduje worked to strengthen party unity, promote democratic principles, and improve the APC’s electoral competitiveness.
“The confidence placed in him by the Party’s NEC and National Caucus meetings in February 2025 was a profound recognition and honour for his service,” Morka stated.
He added that Ganduje leaves the position with pride in the party’s collective achievements, including successful defections from opposition parties and court rulings affirming APC’s leadership.
Reassuring party members, Morka emphasized that the APC remains committed to delivering transformative governance in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The National Working Committee extends its gratitude to Dr. Ganduje for his invaluable contributions and distinguished record of service to our great party. We pray for his good health and success in his future endeavours,” Morka said.
