Africa’s four representatives for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025™ have officially been confirmed, as Morocco, Nigeria, Egypt, and South Africa secured qualification by reaching the semi-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

All four teams earned their spots through hard-fought quarter-final victories on a day filled with tension, drama, and high stakes.

Morocco were the first to qualify, edging past Sierra Leone 1-0 in extra time, courtesy of a late own goal in the 115th minute. The narrow victory brought an end to Sierra Leone’s impressive debut campaign.

Tournament hosts Egypt followed soon after with a stunning comeback against Ghana. Trailing 2-0, the Young Pharaohs rallied to level the score in stoppage time and ultimately triumphed 5-4 in a nerve-wracking penalty shootout to book their ticket to Chile.

Nigeria, Africa’s most successful U-20 team, joined the list by knocking out defending champions Senegal on penalties. The Flying Eagles held their composure to secure what will be a record 14th appearance at the U-20 World Cup.

South Africa completed the lineup with a dramatic 1-0 extra-time win over DR Congo, sealed by Thabang Mahlangu’s decisive strike deep into added time.

With their places at the global tournament now secured, all four nations turn their attention to the semi-finals as they continue their pursuit of continental glory.

The FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025™ will be held from 27 September to 19 October.
