The Labour Party has requested the immediate release of Hon Linus Okorie, its Senatorial Candidate in Ebonyi South, who was kidnapped on his way home on Sunday night.

Okorie was reportedly kidnapped by members of the South East Vigilante group, Ebubeagu, according to the party.

Comrade Julious Abure, National Chairman of LP, stated this in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja.

The party chairman expressed concern that the regular assassination and kidnapping of innocent Nigerians, particularly members of the political class, might have serious implications in the upcoming general election.

According to Abure, the situation is sad and a threat to democracy.
