The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) raised alarm on Tuesday over the recent outbreak of violence during the election campaign.
In response to the recent development, the commission said it will call the heads of political parties competing in the 2023 general election next week.
INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu expressed reservations over the training of master trainers on technology for the 2023 general elections in Abuja.
This comes only 24 hours after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign in Kaduna state was assaulted by suspected thugs.
Yakubu, who described the situation as concerning, urged parties and supporters to focus on problems rather than attacking one another.
He stated that the violent activities not only violated the Electoral Act 2022, but also undermined the political parties’ and candidates’ voluntary commitment to the word and spirit of the Peace Accord.
