The Independent National Electoral Commission has begun training its 82 personnel around the country as Registration Area Technical Support.
The three-day program, which began today (Tuesday), will teach employees on new technologies in advance to the 2023 general election.
INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu said on Tuesday at the Training of Masters Trainers on Election Technology for the 2023 General Election in Abuja that the Commission was convinced that training was a critical success factor in the deployment of technology in elections, noting that there was a need to build the capacity of staff involved, not only to competently handle the devices during the accreditation process, but also to respond effectively to any glitches that may occur.
Yakubu went on to say that the 82 trained officials will teach more officials at the zonal level in order to cover all 8,809 Registration Areas. In turn, these officials will be involved in the training of ad hoc personnel for the 2023 176,846 Polling Units.
