Festus Keyamo, the Spokesperson of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, said on Monday night that Nigerians should interpret the absence of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, four other governors, and some members of the Peoples Democratic Party’s National Working Committee at the official launch of the PDP’s presidential campaign in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, as a warning signal.
Even as the Minister of State for Labour and Employment stated that the presence of the party’s beleaguered National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, on the stage declaring the PDP will alter the fortunes of the country was a joke.
Keyamo made the announcement in a press release posted late Monday night.
Nwafo Live had reported that governors, ex-governors, and senior PDP chieftains in the camp of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his running partner, Ifeanyi Okowa, had arrived in Uyo for the formal commencement of the party’s campaign ahead of the 2023 election.
Members of the PDP Board of Trustees were present, led by former Senate President Chief Adolphus Wabara. However, Keyamo saw the presidential campaign kickoff as a tragedy waiting to happen, claiming that the opposition party had continued to treat the Nigerian people with contempt.
