Senator Ibikunle Amosun, a former governor of Ogun State, has abandoned Governor Dapo Abiodun in favor of the African Democratic Congress’s governorship candidate, Biyi Otegbeye, in the upcoming 2023 elections.
Abiodun and Amosun are both leaders of the All Progressives Congress.
Abiodun, who succeeded Amosun in 2019, is running for re-election in 2023 on the APC platform.
Amosun broke his silence on who he would support in the state’s next election, stating he would back Otegbeye against Abiodun, while also pledging his support for APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu. He stated his position on Monday in an exclusive interview with BBC Yoruba.
Tunde Oladunjoye, the state APC Publicity Secretary, characterized Amosun as deceitful. Stated that the party in the state had more important things to do.
